At The K9 Cottage, we've created a charming and professional pet salon tailored especially for little dogs. Our priority is to ensure your furry companions feel right at home while meeting the strict cleanliness and safety standards set by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.
Our quaint salon, though small in size, boasts five windows that flood the space with natural light, providing an open and airy ambiance. Your dog will even have a view of you as you pull up the driveway, adding to their sense of security.
We prioritize your pet's well-being by using crates, not to isolate them, but to maintain a safe environment. Unlike some big-box pet stores, our furry clients stay within view at all times, facing the grooming table, and receive the one-on-one attention they deserve during reserved individual appointments.
Cleanliness is paramount at The K9 Cottage. We employ a state-of-the-art clipper vacuum system that swiftly removes clipped hair as it's trimmed, with the vacuum motor discreetly positioned outside to ensure a quiet, stress-free environment. Even our dryer motor is designed to minimize noise, creating a serene atmosphere.
We understand the importance of convenience and comfort. With minimal distractions, most dogs are expertly groomed and ready for pick-up within just 2 hours of dropping them off. At The K9 Cottage, we treat your pets with the utmost care, making their visit as enjoyable as possible.
About The Groomer!
Hello! I’m Michele Teich, a professional dog groomer with a passion for pet care that dates back to 2005 when I completed my dog grooming academy course. Over the years, I’ve steadily groomed about 100 dogs per month, gaining extensive experience with dogs of all sizes and coat-types.
However, one of the qualities that sets me apart is my special knack for grooming small ‘wiggly’ dogs, such as Yorkies, Maltese, Pomeranians, Miniature Poodles, Chihuahuas, and more. In my earlier years, co-workers always relied on me for these spirited little ones, and in 2017, I decided to specialize exclusively in grooming small breeds.
In 2006, I launched Comfort Grooming, a mobile dog grooming business in Fort Collins, CO. In 2019, my mother Randy and I moved to Sterling, where we designed The K9 Cottage next to our house, perfectly tailored to the needs of small dogs.

Wait! Who is that giant yorky?
That is our dog Opus! He is of a cute but little-heard-of large breed being brought back practically from the brink of extinction called a Berger Picard. I can’t imagine how anyone could bear to part with him, but he was reportedly returned to his breeder for having excessive separation anxiety. Well, he is a lucky dog now because he gets to go everywhere with his people! He enjoyed riding around in the mobile grooming rig and you will often see him at The K9 Cottage. He is not allowed to interact with customers’ pets, but he enjoys relaxing in his crate beneath the check-in counter, which he believes to be his personal den.
